No Headlines?!

3 people dead and 26 wounded in Chicago over the weekend. Oakland; much smaller city--1 shot to death several wounded in the same time frame. Is CNN coming out? Will there be night walks and massive protests? Will Civil Rights leaders be showing up in Chicago or Oakland hollering and shaking there fists in front of TV cameras like they did in Ferguson? If not, why not?

Voting is Crucial in the Hood!

Last night Hood Movement 21 and BASIC Ministries collaborated to bring a voter information evening to the Deep East Oakland community. It was very successful. Our community is disempowered because we don't understand the power of the vote. There are ballot measures now for raising the minimum wage, bringing non-violent offenders home from prison and giving inner city youth the opportunity to have better educational opportunities. We need to be out in the streets telling our folks to get to the polls come election day. There is so much at stake!
